The Orphan and Doop
The U-Go Girl watercolor made me want to do a watercolor of my two other favorite characters from the X-Statix books, Orphan and Doop. Orphan, a.k.a. Guy Smith’s abilities are as follows, From wikipedia: He possessed superhuman enhanced senses; a radar-like detection ability from his antennae; he could sense vulnerability, whether emotional or physical; a corresponding superhuman...

U-Go-Girl
U-Go-Girl was a mutant and member of the team X-Force/X-statix when Mike Allred and Peter Milligan were penciling/authoring the book. She was one of my favorite characters in the book. Hera bility teleportation and she would often take the entire team whereever they needed to go, though it would take a lot out of her each time. In the books, she was something of a trainwreck, but still quite...

Ginger
Ginger was the sweetest dog I’ve ever met. When I was a kid, I would tell people she was part wolf because she resembled one so much. I used to chase her around the back yard, both of us running full tilt. When we got tired of that we’d just walk side by side. I’d pretend I was out in the wilderness with a wild but kind wolf at my side. She lived for about 17 or 18 years and I...

TMNT doodle
Like most males my age, my favorite cartoon from the late 80s early 90s was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. To me, the funniest of the group (in the cartoon, anyway) was Raphael. I remember being very confused by his aggressive, stand-offish attitude in the movie but continued to love him regardless. It wasn’t until much later that I learned the show was based on a comic and  Raph’s...

Congestive Art Failure
Here’s the watercolor I did for the Congestive Art Failure show this weekend. I was going for the different ways medicine can affect you. Some makes you smarter, more amorous, some can KILL you (dun dun DUNNNN!) and some helps you focus. I had a few other ideas but the canvas I got is pretty small so I didn’t have a whole lot of room. This is also my first real attempt at watercolor...

Dork Bowl 09
Every year my friends Adam and Kelly throw a big old bash called Dork Bowl in which we celebrate all things dorky (during the Super Bowl of course). This year Adam and I put together a dork-themed trivia challenge and the first place winners were awarded a t-shirt with this design (by yours truly) on it. The trivia went pretty well. We got some grief for making the trivia questions too...

Drawings, drawings and more drawings
As noted in the comments on the post below, I haven’t updated in a while. So here’s some stuff I’ve done recently. I’ve been toying around with watercolor and these are the fruits of my labor: I’m doing an art show in February and I wanted to try something in watercolor. Having never used it before I wanted to get in some practice. Also doodled a new...

Tori
A few months back my cat Tori passed away. She got sick pretty suddenly and, sadly, didn’t make it through. Just before all this happened I had perfected drawing the little girl and it culminated in this sketch. This was a position I often found her in. She was a very strange but incredibly loveable cat and I’ll miss her.

Hugh & Bot
In the St. Louis airport on wednesday and then on the plane back from Newark on thursday I was feeling nostalgic and sketched up a little tribute to my 2.5 year webcomic Hugh & Bot. I really need to bring these guys back. Can YOU name them all? You can see a larger version over at my flickr page: www.flickr.com/detailedghost

Futurama
Having gotten my hands on a copy of Bender’s Game I’ve been in a futurama mood lately. During a conference call the other day I tried to draw as many of the characters from memory as I could. Can YOU name them all?

Lil' Gordon Freeman
Half-Life 2 is my all-time favorite videogame of the ever. It’s an extremely immersive experience, much like you’re playing a movie. The protagonist in the game is Gordon Freeman Ph.D., a 27 year-old theoretical physicist who is thrust into an epic conflict with an invading alien force called the Combine. Below he’s depicted fighting the ubiquitous headcrabs.

Mr. Tall Teeth
I went to the dentist for the first time in what must be over 10 years today. I can’t believe how different my teeth look and feel after being power-washed to a shiny finish. I got bonus points for having NO cavities. FTW!

Doomed to repeat itself...
So I recently got all caught up on the show Heroes. What I really love about it is how the creators mix it up with each season. They’re great at “changing the game” as it were with each storyline. Take season 1. In season 1, a few of the characters get a glimpse of the future and discover that the world is going to end unless they do something about it. In season 2, the...
